The Harvick Cup fueled by Hunt Brothers Pizza turns its attention to the “Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars” on Saturday night for a Pro Late Model showdown with the CARS Tour. Kevin Harvick will look to narrow the gap to Keelan Harvick in a 100-lap battle at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway.

So far, Keelan and Kevin Harvick have raced against each other twice, and each time the result has been the same with the now 13-year-old Keelan beating his NASCAR champion father.

The younger Harvick took the win in their first head-to-head showdown back in May at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California. Keelan even scored the overall race victory that night as well.

Less than a month later the father/son combo went at it again, this time at Washington’s Evergreen Speedway. Keelan once again scored the head-to-head victory with a second-place finish to his father’s fourth-place result.

Saturday’s event will mark the first time that Keelan races at Hickory in a Pro Late Model. He raced there earlier this season in a Legends car and also in a perimeter-rail Limited Late Model. His father, meanwhile, has not run a race at Hickory in 25 years. Kevin Harvick has made just one start at Hickory, and it was in ASA competition in 2000.

Following Hickory, the Harvick Cup fueled by Hunt Brothers Pizza moves on to Owosso Speedway in Michigan on July 17.

Saturday’s 100-lap race is significant beyond its Harvick Cup implications as well. Saturday’s race winner will be locked into the Pro Late Model portion of the Throwback Classic on Saturday, August 2, which pays $30,000 to win.

Joining the Harvicks on the entry list looking for a guaranteed starting spot in that race is heavy hitters like reigning CARS Tour Pro Late Model champion Kaden Honeycutt, 2023 LMSC Throwback winner Mason Diaz, points leader Ben Maier, 2023 PLM champion Caden Kvapil, most recent winner Brandon Lopez, and Jade Avedisian, who became the first woman to win a CARS Tour race back in March.
