NASCAR
Truck Series Race 11 of 25 — The Milwaukee Mile
BY THE NUMBERS:
Jack Sprague has the highest running position of any driver in
the Truck Series at The Milwaukee Mile in the past three
seasons. Sprague has an average running position of 3.427.
Sprague has one win to his credit at The Milwaukee Mile which
came in 1996. Sprague’s stats do not end there he is the fastest
driver early in a run, rated best on re-starts and has the
quickest green-flag speed. He is second only to Kevin Harvick
Inc. (KHI) teammate Ron Hornaday in driver rating at The
Milwaukee Mile.
Jack Sprague Quotes:
MILWAUKEE HAS TRADITIONALLY BEEN A GOOD TRACK FOR YOU. WHAT IS
THE SECRET OF GETTING AROUND THE MAGIC MILE?
“There really
is no secret. You just need to have a good-handling race
truck. One key thing is to keep the fenders on the truck all
race long. It is a short track so it is fairly tough to pass.
That makes qualifying and track position pretty important.”
THE RACE IN MILWAUKEE IS A ONE-DAY SHOW WITH PRACTICE,
QUALIFYING AND THE RACE GOING FROM EARLY MORNING UNTIL LATE
NIGHT. DO YOU LIKE THAT SORT OF SCHEDULE?
“Well, it makes for a really long day. But I have to admit I
like that schedule. It is not fun for the guys if something
happens in practice or qualifying because you’re scrambling to
fix the truck. However, one-day shows are good for the fans.
They can come watch everything we do in one day. Plus, I hate
waiting around so I like it when everything happens back to
back.”
CHASSIS HISTORY:
The Kevin
Harvick Inc. (KHI) No. 2 RVs.com team will be taking chassis No.
025 to The Milwaukee Mile. This is a brand new chassis with no
laps on the race track, but has been tested in the wind tunnel
and produced some promising aerodynamic statistics. No. 025 is
a short-track chassis very similar to the truck the team ran at
Martinsville (Va.) Speedway where the team recorded their first
pole of 2008.
FRIENDS ‘TIL THE END:
Last week Sprague enjoyed being back in his home state of
Michigan. He and KHI teammate Ron Hornaday decided to use the
week leading up to the Camping World RV Sales 200 in Milwaukee
spending some quality time together at Sprague’s home in
Michigan.
“It is nice to
have a little time to relax and not worry about traveling all
the way back to North Carolina, only to have to leave again on
Thursday,” said Sprague. “Hornaday and I are going to do some
relaxing... maybe pull out the four wheelers and hang out with
some of our friends up here.”
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP:
Jack Sprague and the No. 2 RVs.com team were relegated to a
30th-place finish after a lap one incident with fellow
competitor Mike Skinner. The contact resulted in a flat
left-rear tire that knocked a brake line of the truck. Sprague
went eight laps down and was unable to recover finishing the
race in 30th position.
