Kevin Harvick Signs with JEGS High-Performance Auto Parts

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (May 1, 2008) -- Kevin Harvick has signed to promote high-performance auto parts giant JEGS.com and their Mail Order parts business. Harvick will feature the JEGS.com logo on the helmets he uses in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. The Coughlin family, owners of JEGS for more than 45 years, is a multi-generational success story in NHRA drag racing and is now venturing into NASCAR sponsorship.

"JEGS is a great company and we need to make JEGS.com the place for NASCAR fans to go whenever they need high-performance parts," Harvick said. "The Coughlin brothers got involved with NASCAR through the contingency program last year and they have big billboards at most of the tracks. I think this deal is just a natural progression for their involvement with our sport.

"I've become great friends with John (Coughlin) and watched Jeg (Coughlin) race his Pro Stock car in Las Vegas. I’m a fan of drag racing and they’re fans of NASCAR. We're all racers at heart and that made this relationship very comfortable right from the start. I started Kevin Harvick Inc. with my wife DeLana, so we really identified with the family aspects of what they do in business and racing."

Harvick’s dramatic victory in the Daytona 500 in 2007 gave JEGS their first win as a contingency sponsor in NASCAR. Harvick is currently sixth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings. Harvick has two Nationwide Series championships (2006, 2001) as a driver and won the 2007 Truck Series championship as a team owner with driver Ron Hornaday.

"We think this is a great way for JEGS to get exposure in the top three series in NASCAR," said John Coughlin, one of four brothers which run JEGS Mail Order. "Any time Kevin climbs behind the wheel of one of his racecars he gets a lot of attention and now JEGS will be along for the ride right there on his visor. It's exciting to have a driver of his talent as part of Team JEGS.

"I've always been a fan of Kevin. I like the way he races and his desire to win. We had a chance to roam the garage at this year's Daytona 500 and I introduced myself to him. He was very friendly from the start and took my son Cody and I into his transporter to show us around. We just kind of hit it off and he asked us to watch the race from his pit box. What a thrill that was for us. We want to have some fun with this new arrangement with him and use his popularity to spread the word about JEGS to the millions of NASCAR fans out there."

About JEGS
Following his passion for all things fast, Jeg Coughlin Sr. opened JEG’S High Performance Speed shop in 1960 as a way to bring the latest and greatest racing parts to his somewhat sheltered hometown of Columbus, Ohio. As racing gear poured in from the coasts, JEG’S quickly become known as “the” place for area racers. Forty-five years later Senior helped his four sons, John, Troy, Mike and Jeg Jr., purchase the operation outright and it quickly become the undisputed king of high performance mail order parts. From a tiny speed shop to a 225,000 square-foot distribution center and headquarters, with three retail stores and call centers, JEG’S now employs more than 300 associates but still manages to give each customer the personal touch that made the company what it is today.
